Dear Sir;

That there may be no misunderstanding as to the offer I had the honor of submitting to your Board this Afternoon, I desire to herewith submit to you in writing the proposition as I have explained it both to the President of the institution and to Dr.Stevens.

1.	I proposed to pay you the sum of $2000 in cash for the claim taken up & registered by Mr. W.H. Reed to the fossil remains of a certain saurian of which he has discovered the broken end of the femur.
