April 9, 1899: Holland from Downey - Laramie, Wyoming, April 9th 1899 Rev. William J. Holland Pittsburg, Pa. Dear Sir: I wrote you acknowledging receipt of the draft. I now write you to say that the roads are still impassible. Mr. Owen was here yesterday, he thinks he can make the survey by the 20th inst. he will do it just as quick as the weather will permit. No prospecting of a careful character can be done until about the first of June. The gulches and rough places are filled with frozen snow. If you come out to go out in the country I would not advise you to come before the first of June. I enclose you a letter which speaks for itself. There is nothing new or special, Everything is exceedingly quiet. With regards I remain Yours sincerely S W Downey
