June 9, 1899: Holland from Downey - Laramie, Wyoming, June 9th 1899 Dr. W. J. Holland Pittsburgh, Penna. Dear Sir: I had a conference with Mr. Gramm, of the University, yesterday, he feels very friendly toward you. The plan we have agreed upon in reference to the fossils is this, he will lay the whole matter before the University Trustees at the June meeting which occurs the 22nd of this month. The trustees will come to some agreement and will probably authorize Mr. Gramm to go on to Pittsburgh to confer with you, and I have no doubt but what you and he will be able to formulate something that will be carried through. Gramm may not be able to see you until about the middle of July. There is absolutely nothing new in the fossil matter so far as I know except the enclosed clipping. I may be absent from home all of next week. As I wrote you I have heard nothing from Mr. Reed. You can depend upon my keeping you fully advised. Yours sincerely, S W Downey
