My Dear Dr yours of the 11 came today. The mistake in the number of the township is easily explained I had no official map of the land and took my number from the north side of the stone at the northeast corner of the township when I should have taken the figures on the south side of the stone I did not know of this eror until I consulted the map in Downeys office after you had gone east and farther I have writen to the Co.- Clerk of Carbon Co and have received his reply and he says that office has no record of these claims the letter was likely stolen some where as it had $3.00 in it in bills. Things in that office wer not in very good order at that time and that may acount for it. There is no claim to contend with except the notice at the quarry and that was put up in August and would only hold for 60 days.
