Your letter and telegram have just reached me and I am delighted with the good news of Dr. Holland's condition. When I heard of the operation I was very much worried, for I had some grave doubts of a successful issue. When he has sufficiently recovered please extend my sincerest congratulations upon the happy termination of so dangerous an experience.

Regarding matters here I have to report that everything is going along smoothly. The gum arabic was received some two weeks ago, thanks to your prompt attention of the order. I paid $5.40 express charges on the same.

We have finished cutting our hay for packing and are now boxing our material for shipment. I could not do better than $7.50 per ton after much trial and have engaged Mr. Fales of the "T.B." Ranch to begin hauling on the 8th. I calculate that the carload will be delivered in about 10 days from the 8th.
