The lines granting free transportation are: (1) the Pennsylvania System from Pittsburgh to Cincinnati (your own line); (2) The Louisville and Nashville from Cincinnati to New Orleans to Alice; (4) The Texas Mexican Railway Company from Alice to Laredo, Texas. The Mexican authorities, as I understand, have granted admission without duty and free transportation from the border to destination. With the most engaging kindness over the telephone, as well as through your letter of September 21st, you have expressed a willingness to assist me and relieve me of attention to certain details. I wish to reassure you, as I have already assured you over the telephone, of my intense appreciation of your kindess, and I trust that we may shortly have the pleasure of meeting each other and discussing what remains to be done.
