Herrera, Director Secretaria de Argicultura y Fometo, Casa del Lago, Chapultepec, Mexico, D.F., Mexico My dear Doctor Herrera: Enclosed please find the bill of lading for Southern Pacific car No. 18, 199, containing the thirty-six boxes of which we have carefully packed the replica of the Diplodocus. The car went forward by the route indicated on the bill of lading, leaving Pittsburgh on the night of October 18th. With this bill of lading in your possession you will be able to control movements in case there is any delay or hold-up at any point. I shall be pleased to receive form you information of the safe arrival of the specimen. I may infrom you also that I have taken out a policy of insurance on the cargo in the Home Insurance Company of New York, partially insuring against risk of breakage in transfer, or loss of the shipment by the wreck of any of the trains which the car is attached. This policy does not cover the full value of the shipment, but only $5,000.00. In case you are apprised that the car has been wrecked, or that the shipment has been injured, or in the event that it comes to your hands with evidence of destruction in part, or injury, please notify me at once letting me know the number of the boxes which appear to have been broken or injured so that I may take steps at once to secure reimbursement from the insurance company. I trust, however, that the shipment will come through to you in perfect order, as it has been packed, so there will be no
