Illmo. Senor Professor A.L. Herrera, Director del Museo Nacional de Historia Natural, Mexico, D.F., Mexico My dear Sir and Collegue: I desire hereby to gratefully acknowledge your telegram date September 20th, which has just been received. I am mailing you a lithographed representation of the replica of the Diplodocus as it was mounted for presentation to the German emperor. By widening the posterior base and curving the tail as indicated in the sketch, which I sent you, it is possible to reduce the entire length required for mounting the specimen. I am also enclosing with the lithograph a reprint of an article which was published in the Annals of the Carnegie Museum giving an account of the presentation of the replica in the Brithish Museum on May 12, 1905.
