The framework, upon which the specimen is mounted, is made of metal.



The bases upon which the specimen is supported have been made heretofore either of mahogany.  At Bologna and La Plata in Argentina the bases are made of walnut.  In Bologna they used the beautiful Italian walnut and at La Plata the wood of the Argentine walnut.
