Alder, Montana Sept. 14, 1905 Dr. W.J. Holland Carnegie Museum Pittsburgh, Pa. My dear Dr. Holland: We arrived yesterday. We have collecting to do at or near this place and above Virginia City. We have just been collecting some fossil mammals from the White River Beds near Whitehall. Have been getting splendid and varied collections of invertebrates from many different horizons. After we finish in this region Mr. Raymond expects to leave me to return east: Then I expect to start on my trip into the extreme southwestern portion of the state and with Idaho to see if there are any more fossil mammals there and to look up some geological problems would like to have some more money before starting.
