Jensen, Utah, Jan. 30, 1913 My dear Dr. Holland:- I have been to Vernal, and with Mr. O'Donnell have taken further steps toward patenting the Carnegie Museum Placer Claim. I think none of us realized the great amount of work -- "red tape" -- connected with patenting a claim of this kind. I think it is well for us to look for some delay in getting patent and be prepared for it. We are the first to take the steps we have taken to obtain possession of land for this purpose, and this law regarding "relics of antiquity" &c. may have to be interpreted before we can get title, but we can hold it against anyone else, and our permit from the Secretary of the Interior will guard us
