September 14, 1914 Mr. Earl Douglass; Dr. Holland received your letter and financial statement this morning. He has requested me to write to you and say that he and expected that you would pay Kay the salary which he has been receiving, viz., $45. per month, but as we see upon your statment that you have not done so, I have to-day forwarded Kay a check for this amount, and wish to inform you of that fact so that he shall not be paid doubly. In addition to this I will deposit in the Oakland Savings & Turst Company to the credit of the Carnegie Museum Field Account the sum of two hundred dollars tomorrow morning, and you will be at liberty to draw upon that as heretofore. Dr. Holland informs me that in the district in which you are woking there is a bed of earth: in case you are near this deposit I wish you would secure about a pound of it and ship it to me by Parcel Post, with exact locality. I am sorry to hear you have not been well and hope you have completely recovered by this time. I am Yours very sincerely, Assistant to Director
