rock is hard and there is in some places a considerable of a tangle but most of it is coming out very nicely. We are now beginning to outline blocks of articulated skeleton. No. 165 is apparently a fine Diplodocus and we think complete back to about the 20th vertebra of the tail. The chevrons are all in exact position. The tail was "straight up" -- north originally -- the body lying on its left side and the dorsals and neck extending eastward. In other words the caudals extended across stream and the body down. This is different from the positions of the other large skeletons. At perpendicular line 112 on the chart there is a sudden change. The skeleton of No. 165 and possibly some other as yet unseen skeleton has made a kind of drift of bones here. West of this in the space that is cleared the bones are scattering -- not nearly so numerous, yet there are indications that there will be good things here and what we find will probably be extra good and in ideal condition to work out.
