Register and Receiver, Vernal, Utah. Sirs: April 5, 1913, Earl Douglass made mineral entry 04764 for the Carnegie Museum placer claim, survey 6204, for deposits of fossil remains of dinosaurs and other preshisotric animals. By letter of July 24, 1913, this office held that such deposits were not subject to mining location and held the mineral entry for cnacellation subject to the usual right of appeal, form which decision the claimant appealed to the Secretary of the Interior. By decision the calimant appealed to the Secretary of the Interior. By decision dated August 6, 1915, the Department affirmed this office and held that such deposits were not subject to mining location. Motion for rehearing was denied November 16, 1915.
