On account of uncertainty as to the future, affairs at the quarry were nearly at a stopping point in the latter part of 1915. After receiving the permit -- in March I think it was -- work was resumed with renewed vigor.

In place of the primitive wooden railway, steel rails were purchased and a new track made which greatly facilitated the work of excavating.

As there was no comfortable shelter where drawings and records could be made and preserved and no safe in which to keep them and other valuable things, a metal safe with locks was made and a strong stone room or cabin erected with safe locks on the door. Previous to this tools and other things had been stolen from the quarry.

New machinery and tools were bought so that now all repairs and constructive work are now done at the quarry.
