If permits should be granted to others to work in this quarry it would cause endless and inextricable confusion. It would probably divide the greatest fossil skeleton ever discovered. Not only this but there would be a mix-up all along the line, and it is likely that eight or more skeletons would be divided, part going to one museum and part to another. The Carnegie Museum has expended a lot of money in the work at the quarry, for freight, and in the laboratory, and now when probably on the eve of the greatest success it should not be robbed of its reward. Others are writing to get in and get some of the good things but they should bide their time. It is possible that if it were known that our permit expires in December there would be other applications, but if our application is presented early I have no doubt that we shall receive justice.
