This serves the double purpose of a safe and office desk. It is safe to say that no other quarry of the kind was ever so well equipped for efficient work and no other quarry has so well warranted the equipment.

While the house was being built, excavation was begun at the west end of the quarry to lower "the cut" so that all of the nearly complete skeleton of Apatosaurus, No. 240, could be procured.

Besides the usual amount of interesting material, unforeseen discoveries etc, it was hoped that this excavation would reveal two coveted prizes: the skull of Apatosaurus in undoubted association with the skeleton, and the remaineder of the huge skeleton,
