on a new scale one half the size of the old which has assumed such huge proportions that it is unavailable for ordinary use. The old chart was drawn on a scale of one inch to the foot. This was pieced together with sheets 16 x 21 inches. These of course had to be pasted together. The length of the chart is 328 inches (27.3 ft.) representing excavation 328 ft long. This would not cover the extreme excavation which now reaches some distance farther eastward. The new chart is on the scale of one half foot to the inch -- one half the size of the other. It is drawn on continuous cross-section paper. I could not get this paper wide enough for the chart so two strips will be pasted together longitudinally this being the only seam. It will be 200 inches (16.6 ft) long, and 40 inches high, representing a space 80 x 400 ft. It will show the contour of the rocky ledge and a copy can be put on an ordinary wall.
