You were perfectly right to secure the lumber and other necessities at such advantageous prices, and I am glad you did so. I have writtent to the Receiver of the Denver & Salt Lake Railroad and to the President of the Union Pacific, and the Chicago & Northwestern in an attempt to get free transportation for our car. If possible, it is my intention to bring this shipment in the way you suggest, that is, hauling to Craig, and then over the Denver & Salt Lake; Union Pacific; Chicago & Northwestern to Chicago. From there to Pittsburgh we have three lines to fall back upon, and I will not take up that detail until I hear from the roads west of Chicago. I hope that this letter will make things perfectly clear to you and that there will be no further misunderstanding as to what done. This is not only my own judgment, but that of the Museum Committee of the Board of trustees.
