My dear Douglass: In reply to your letter of January 15, you probably know from my letter that free transportation has been granted by the Union Pacific and it will be all right for you to notify them when you need the cars. Under these cirmustances it certainly would be foolish to attempt to ship by Watson and Mack. It is much better for you to wait until you are sure that the roads are in good condition, even if you have to wait unitl spring. I am glad that you have followed instructions and laid off your working force. If you can spare Mr. Kay let me know and I will make arrangements to bring him here.
