British Columbia hunting big game. I think they were together about 2 yrs, & then all trace of them (or of my nephew) was lost. We do not know the name of this young man he was with. One sometimes hears of such strange accidents, or loss of memory in these sudden disappearances. Sometime after his infrequent letters were recd my brother went as far as Juneau trying to trace some news of him which was only likely thro' some returning hunters, but without success. I have not said anything about my writing you hating to recall old sorrows, unless I hear from you favorably. I wonder if you have a portrait of Mr. D--. When he left the East, he intended to settle in Chicago but met the young man their. A reply of some kind from you will be gratefully recd.
