get a large specimen for exhibition as well as study. Got a solid block in three sections averaging about 6 1/2 feet long and three feet or more in width. Believe it can be made a fine exhibition specimen; at any rate Mr. Jennings will find it of interest. The material will be shipped with the dinosaurs in the next car. There are other specimens for study. It is Upper Cretaceous, but an unmapped area. A party of the U.S. Geol. Surv. is now mapping it. Mr. Ebey(?) was here to see me this evening and he is much interested in it. He will probably go and make some collections there. I expect to go out with him tomorrow and look over some of the Upper Cretaceous and lower Tertiary near here. I went out this morning and discovered fossil plants in another horizon, mapped as "Laramie". They will be excellent for study as they are in compact rock and the small veinlets show up beautifully.
