It give me very deep regret to have to enclose for your information a copy of a letter to me from Dr. Clyde Furst, Secreatry of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, advising in the case of Mr. Earl Douglass that on account of his withdrawal form the employment of the Carnegie Institute his pension privileges have lapsed.  I wish it might be otherwise.
