January 21, 1930 My dear friend I owe you a letter also an apology for not paying the debt, so accept this as both. I have been very busy since I arrived drawing maps, cross-sections and looking up specimens. I spoke to Peterson and Mrs. Courtney about some publications for you soon after I came back. Mrs. Courtney promised she would send a list for you to mark what you wanted and she informed me this morning she has done so. Please mark the list and send it back if you haven't done so and we will send the publications. I suppose you have guessed by thsi time that I have an axe to grind. In the catalog of your collections of the Uinta Basin there is a number 174 - shells form the Ashplalt Ridge, collected by Earl Douglass and J.L. Hays in 1912. There is a foot note stating that this number as well as several others were taken from the bos and shipped to various experts f or indentification and I cannot dind any other data about this here. Do you remember anything about it (This is memory test No. 1) I spoke to you about the loan of your leaves formt he Ashphalt Ridge if it is convenient would you mind sending these specimens on? Peterson is working on a short paper in connection with the Titanotheras formt he Uinta Basin, but the main work will not be done until later Mr. Peterson has asked me to extend his best regards, please accept mine to you all.
